About Me

Hey there, I’m Laura Czajkowski, originally hailing from Castleconnell in Co. Limerick, Ireland, my journey into the captivating world of open source and thriving communities began with a single step – getting involved in the computer society, Skynet at the University of Limerick. Little did I know that this step would spark a flame that would shape my path in remarkable ways.

Fast forward to 2007, when I took on the challenge of orchestrating SkyCon, a groundbreaking event to celebrate the computer society. This marked my first taste of large-scale event organisation and set the stage for my transition to Dublin, where I delved headfirst into the world of software testing. In this new cityscape, I found a new home within the Ubuntu community, becoming progressively more engaged and active.

From humble beginnings of filing bugs, my journey within the Ubuntu community my involvement grew into various community leadership roles. I’ve worn many hats – from a loco team owner to a contributor on the EMEA membership committee. My journey with positions as the Loco Council leader and, ultimately, as a member of the Community Council. These roles have allowed me to not only nurture the Ubuntu community but also to empower developers and enthusiasts across the spectrum.

In 2010, I embarked on a new chapter by moving to the UK, where I’ve been making my mark ever since. While I remain deeply rooted in the realms of tech and open source, my heart belongs to a pair of adorable companions – Bash, my pug, and Pixel, my French Bulldog.

My true passion lies in the art of community building and advocacy. I’m fascinated by the intricate dynamics of engaging developers across all levels, especially within the realm of enterprise organisations. My prowess in leading expansive teams and crafting ingenious campaigns has resulted not only in community growth but has also honed my skills as a mentor and leader.

In my spare moments, you’ll find me indulging my wanderlust, often making my way to the magical world of Disney in Orlando – a place that resonates with my sense of wonder. Alternatively, I love the calming embrace of the sea, where I can dive into a good book and soak in the breathtaking surroundings. And don’t get me started on rugby – I’m an ardent supporter of both Ireland and Munster.

Thank you for joining me on this exhilarating journey. Together, we’ll explore the vast landscapes of technology, leadership, and community, all while sprinkling in a bit of Disney magic and ocean serenity. Welcome to my world – let’s embark on an adventure together!
